LOL @ minidisc in bold. That shit went nowhere fast huh? OK, you only have one set of ins, so I would suggest getting an FM modulator for your CD changer, and using the ins for the XM. Not sure what you mean by the HU is not recognizing the SkyFi signal. Are you currently hooking the one input up to a Y-cable to go to both sources? If you have a problem hooking up the XM only, then it may be an input/output mismatch either in voltage or impedance of the line outs of the XM unit. As far as mounting, are you a smoker? I think an ideal stealth location could be the current ash tray, but it appears to be a little big for that area.
